Many of you have been asking, and we’ve been working behind the scenes to make it happen effectively, so here it finally is.

For those of you who can’t attend this month’s conference, The City Transformed: urban life at the end of the world as we know it, in person in Meanjin / Brisbane, you can now book online tickets to stream and participate in the plenary room program.

Due to technical and resource constraints, we’re not able to make the whole program available online. We’ve been puzzling through the best approach to make sure online participation is a really valuable engagement with the conference, and decided that, with a single stream, we can effectively manage the online participation to involve you in discussions, so it’s not just watching.

This way, you’ll be able to ask questions of speakers and panellists, and have discussions with each other along the way.

And, by focussing on the plenary room program, you’ll get a solid half of the conference program – 10 of the 20 sessions over the two days. That will include our keynotes from Mary Graham and Michelle Maloney, Sue Harris Rimmer and David Schlosberg, as well as panels including Mundanara Bayles, Wendy Aghdam, Emma Bacon, Violet Coco, Larissa Waters, Emma Davidson, Mark Diesendorf and more!

We will also be audio recording the sessions in the panel room and making them available on our website after the conference concludes, and once we’ve had time to process everything.

So, whether you’re trying to save carbon, save money or save time, or you’ve got World Cup tickets, or you’re being Covid careful (noting we do have measures in place for the in person event), you can now buy your online tickets to The City Transformed so you don’t miss out.

That said, I really want to encourage those of you who can make it in person to do so. It’s always a better experience as an attendee to be there in the flesh, and it’s just so much better for speakers to have a crowd in the room.
