If you want to change the world, then it helps if you first understand it.

That’s why the Green Institute is collaborating with eight experts in political economy to deliver a six week program of lectures and workshops we’re calling Praxis: A course on understanding the economy, and how it dominates our lives.

At Praxis, you’ll gain the skills and tools you need to analyse the Australian and global economy, understand the structures of power in Australia, critique common economic news stories, and apply an economic lens to politics.

The course focuses on the three broad areas that make up the majority of our lives; work, home, and money

Everything from the wage you’re paid, to the cooking and cleaning you do at home, and the debit card in your pocket, are all defined by the same economic and political forces that drive capitalism.

Whether you’re organising electoral campaigns, writing policy, thinking about becoming a candidate, running political strategy, or organising in a trade union, this course is for you.

The Green Institute is committed to making this event as accessible as possible, so if you can’t afford the concession price for a ticket, or access to childcare is a barrier to you, get in touch with us directly and we will do our best to help.

Registrations open 10am Saturday 18 July 2026.
